Meet Sir Joseph Banks the world famous 18th Century botanist, often called the Father of Australian Botany.
Don’t worry he won’t appear as a two hundred something year old but will be presented in full period costume as a sprightly sixty-year-old President of the Royal Society. He’ll have a touch of gout, and may be slightly overweight, but he’s not quite in a wheel chair yet. This eminent Botanist will share with you his experiences on Captain Cook's voyage of discovery to the Great Southern land.
This humorous presentation combines the use of theatre, history and plants to tell an important story of plants and discovery from our past. This will be an interactive presentation, so come prepared to get involved and have your say, to help us decide the true legacy of Sir Joseph and his voyage on the Endeavour nearly 250 years ago.
