Wollongong Beaches

Wollongong City Council looks after 17 patrolled beaches and 9 public pools between Stanwell Park and Windang.

Council lifeguards patrol six days a week. On Sundays and public holidays, patrols are covered by volunteer lifesavers from Surf Lifesaving Australia.

All of our beaches are patrolled from the start of the September school holidays til the end of the April school holidays. North Wollongong Beach is our only beach that's patrolled year-round - during winter it's patrolled seven days a week from 9am to 4pm.

To find locations and patrol hours, visit the Our Beaches page.

Make sure you check out our Beach Safety before you head to the beach.

When you visit our beaches and pools, help us keep them looking good by putting your rubbish in the bins provided.

Public Pools

If you prefer pools to waves, try one of Wollongong’s many public swimming pool options. We’ve got rock pools, saltwater pools, freshwater pools and, at Beaton Park Leisure Centre, an indoor pool.

Find pool hours and locations on our Public Pools page.

We're working towards a 10 year strategy that will help to achieve our vision for Wollongong's pools:

’Wollongong City is host to a variety of highly used and appealing aquatic recreational opportunities that meet our community’s needs of today and their desires of tomorrow’
