Community Centres & Halls

Your local community centre is a great place to learn a new skill, take up a hobby, meet new people or stay healthy.

Our centres have a range of spaces for hire that can accommodate everything from meetings with just a couple of people, through to large events. Many also have commercial-style kitchens, and flexible options to adapt halls for theatre-style or table seating.

Council manages the hire of some community centres, while others are home to community organisations who manage the building on Council's behalf. These community groups make venues available for hire by others, and can answer all your enquiries.

Choose from the largest selection of office space, meeting rooms and halls for hire in the Wollongong Local Government Area.

  District Community Centres

Council runs three large District Community Centres. Each venue has a diverse range of spaces, and is also home to some of our most visited library branches.

Thirroul District Community Centre & Library

Located in Wollongong’s northern suburbs, Thirroul District Community Centre & Library is at the centre of a popular shopping and restaurant precinct. It even has its own café! With a key railway station and bus stops just steps away, it’s also easy to get to by public transport.

The centre has a range of spaces, from small offices to large halls and private courtyards. To find out more, visit the Thirroul District Community Centre & Library page.

Corrimal District Library & Community Centre

Just 10 minutes' drive north of the Wollongong CBD, Corrimal District Library & Community Centre is close to shops, sports facilities and public transport.

The centre has a wide range of spaces for hire, as well as enclosed courtyards and a soft fall outdoor play area.

To find out more about this centre, visit the Corrimal District Library & Community Centre page.

Dapto Ribbonwood Centre

Dapto Ribbonwood Centre is our largest community centre in the southern part of the city, and is close to both shops and the largest growing development area of our region.

The well-appointed centre includes a large hall that can accommodate up to 400 people, as well as multiple options for smaller scale activities. Many rooms have garden seating and access to outdoor areas.

For details, please visit the Dapto Ribbonwood Centre page.

Local Community Centres

We have a range of local community centres across our city.

Community Group-run Centres

If you're interested in hiring one of our other venues run by a Council-appointed community group, it's worth noting some of our licensed community facilities don't have staff on hand during office hours. To make a time to visit the facility, you might have to leave a phone message and wait for someone to get back to you. Details of our community-managed centres are below.
