The LAB is our collaborative learning space at Wollongong Library. Join us for one of our skills workshops or drop-in to one of our exciting monthly programs.

Picture of sewing machineSewing machines are now available for use in The LAB!

Book a one-on-one sewing machine safety induction where you will learn to safely thread the needle, wind the bobbin, change the stitch and use the pedal. Sessions available on 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, 10am-12noon.

For those who have completed a safety induction, sewing machines are available to book on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month between 5.30 - 8pm.

In partnership with The Smith Family a free ten month matched savings and financial education program that assists people on lower incomes to strengthen their financial skills, develop a savings habit and save for educational costs with be running in The LAB. The program, Saver Plus, encourages saving by matching their savings dollar for dollar, up to $500 that can be used to pay for education costs such as school uniforms, swimming lessons, computers, textbooks, music tuition and school excursions.

To join Saver Plus you must:

  • Have a Centrelink Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have some regular income from work (you or your partner)
  • Have a child at school or attend vocational education yourself

 Illawarra Historical Society

Everyone is very welcome to attend the monthly gatherings of the Society featuring a guest speaker on a topic relating to Illawarra history.

Guest speaker events are held on the first Thursday of each month (except January) at 6.30pm.

Light refreshments are provided at the meeting.
