How to Join!
As a library member you are able to borrow items from our collections, access our online resources and collections and use equipment and technologies within the library.
You can join at any of our Libraries or online. Please show your current address to join - either a Driver's Licence or other official photo ID with your current address. Alternatively, you can provide two other types of ID with one of them listing your current residential address.
If joining online, you will still need to complete your membership at the Library. Please bring your ID to our nearest library to collect your membership card.
If you are under 16 years of age you will need a parent or guardian with appropriate identification to join.

Youth (13-18 years)
Junior (0-12 years)
Non-resident Membership: You can still join our library even if you do not live in the Wollongong Council area. Please bring photo ID showing your current address.
Independent Minors: Minors who are 14-18 years of age and who are living independently can join the library. Current identification showing proof of age and address is required.
Local Organisations can join the library. Written approval from the organisation's management and including a signature from a responsible person is required.
Temporary Memberships: If you live or visit the Wollongong area for less than 12 months for study, work or trave, you may join the library. Please provide your current address and ID e.g. passport. Your membership will expire on your departure from the area.
Assisted Borrowing: A family member, friend or neighbour who is willing to select and deliver their library material to those who cannot access one of our libraries.
Adults and Minors without a permanent address: restricted memberships can be organised for anyone without a permanent address.
Home Library Service: provides library materials to residents of Wollongong who are unable to visit a library in person.
What Can I Borrow?
All members can borrow any items from the lending collections which include fiction, non-fiction, magazines, audiobooks, DVDs and music CDs. Your library card entitles you to borrow items from all library locations and return to all locations.
How Long Can I Borrow For?
The loan period is four weeks for most of our collections.
Each library item can be renewed. If another library member has reserved an item, you will not be able to renew it.

Online - log in to your account to renew online from home or in the library. You will need your library card number and your PIN to log in.
There are no fees for overdue items after 1 July, 2019. As long as overdue items are returned in the same condition you borrowed them, you will not accrue any fees.
If you have an overdue item, or an outstanding fee, your library membership will be temporarily suspended for borrowing, computer use and printing.
Lost or Damaged Items:
Fees remain for lost or damaged items. Members can pay their fees at any of our libraries.
What Can I Download?
Library members can download eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines through our online services. Full text articles are also available for download from our online resources database collection.
